Mountain Dreams Press: AI Disclosure & Ethics Statement

At Mountain Dreams Press, we believe that the most powerful stories are told when human intuition directs modern innovation. In our pursuit to bring Appalachian history and personal legacy to life, we utilize Artificial Intelligence as a collaborative partner.

To ensure the integrity of our work, we adhere to the following Terms of AI Use:

  • Human-in-the-Loop Governance: Every piece of content published under the Mountain Dreams Press umbrella is curated, edited, and finalized by a human. AI generates possibilities; humans make choices.
  • Fact-Checking & Integrity: While we use Large Language Models (LLMs) to synthesize data and refine prose, all genealogical facts and historical dates are cross-referenced against primary sources and established family records. We do not permit “hallucinated” history.
  • Atmospheric Reconstruction: We use Generative AI to create visual representations of the past where no photographic record exists. These images are intended as artistic interpretations to provide emotional context and “visual synchronicity,” not as literal forensic evidence.
  • Collaborative Credit: We acknowledge our digital associates (Gemini, Nano Banana, and others) in our Colophon as a mark of transparency. We view these tools as the “Digital Staff” of a modern, 21st-century press.
  • Privacy & Respect: We do not use AI to generate sensitive or private information regarding living individuals. Our focus remains strictly on heritage research and public-interest historical storytelling.
The tools are artificial, but the dreams—and the responsibility for the words—are entirely human.
