In a perfect version of this life, I’d be sitting on a weathered wooden deck right now, the morning mist lifting off the Blue Ridge peaks while I type. Those mountains wouldn’t just be a memory or a map; they’d be the permanent view above my monitor.

In that same world, the time and heart I pour into this family of websites would be the very thing that sustains that life. I would, quite literally, be living the “Mountain Dream.”

The Vision and the Reality

Since the world rarely hands us perfection on a silver platter, my “Mountain Dreams” are still primarily just that—dreams. This site is my digital drafting board, the place where I come to envision, plan, and keep the fire burning for a life lived among the hills.

Part of that dream is finding a way to earn a living in the high country I love. Because of that, I want to be clear and upfront with you: this site is envisioned as a commercial endeavor.

A Note on Transparency

While my primary goal is to share the soul of the Appalachians, I also use this space to help pave the way toward that front porch in the mountains. Here is what you should know:

  • Affiliate Links: Not every link on these pages is “working” for me, but some are.
  • Commissions: If you follow a link to a sales page or click something in my sidebar, there is a good possibility I will receive a small fee or commission from that lead.
  • Integrity: I only share things that fit the spirit of what we’re building here, but those small earnings are what help turn these digital pages into a mountain reality.

Think of it as helping to clear a little more brush on the path to those blue ridges. I truly appreciate you stopping by to share the view for a while.

Disclosure Policy

This policy has been the “law of the land” here since July 23, 2010.

Just like a well-tended garden in a mountain hollow, this blog is a personal labor of love—written, edited, and maintained by me. To keep the lights on and the “Mountain Dream” moving forward, I do accept various forms of compensation, including cash advertising, sponsorships, and paid insertions.

The Code of the Hills: Honesty & Transparency

I believe in the old-school value of a person’s word. Our relationship is built on honesty, identity, and genuine opinion. While the compensation I receive may influence the topics I cover or the ads you see, I strive to keep things as clear as a mountain stream:

  • Identification: Any content, advertising space, or post that is paid or sponsored will be clearly identified as such.
  • Authentic Voice: I am not paid to provide a specific opinion. The views and musings expressed here are 100% my own.
  • Worthy Endorsements: If I claim to be an expert or lean on my experience regarding a product or service, I will only endorse things I truly believe are worthy of your time and trust.

A Few Trail Notes

While I aim for accuracy, please remember to verify any product claims, statistics, or quotes directly with the manufacturer or provider. They have the spec sheets; I have the stories.

Additionally, navigate with the understanding that this blog may contain content that presents a conflict of interest. While I do my best to keep the trail marked, these instances may not always be explicitly identified.
