The Northern Mountain Region is where I discovered the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is also the region I keep visiting. With stays in the mountains south of Boone on our family vacations starting in 2003, we have all discovered something about the area we love.
After traveling into the area for a couple of summer vacations I discovered I had an even greater link to the area. My ancestors on my maternal side were Linvilles. In particular the Linvilles for whom Linville Creek in Vilas was named…Small world, don’t you think. Of course, my side of the family had migrated on by 1810 so I didn’t git the opportunity to grow up here.
